Dr. Darney shares the methods of contraception available to men.

Dr. Darney:
Well we are still, unfortunately, a long way from having a male pill. What’s especially important for women is to know that their partner is informed about the method they are using and to insist, really, that partners are cooperative and using condoms, for example. Because condoms are the only contraceptive method that are completely dependent on the male and they are the only method that’s completely reliable in preventing the transmission of sexual infections, like the AIDS virus.

So we will some day, I would say 10 to 15 years from now, have a pill that men can take but it will still be important that men and women cooperate in the use of the good old fashioned condom to prevent sexually transmitted infections.
