A 72-year-old woman from India gave birth to a healthy baby boy after receiving in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments for two years.
Daljinder Kaur, 72 and her husband Mohinder Singh Gill, 79, went to the National Fertility And Test Tube Baby Centre in Haryana with the hopes of conceiving their first child.
The health professionals at the center were feeling unsure about the chances of a successful pregnancy. After extensive testing, the found that Kaur would be able to carry the baby full term.
“When we saw the (IVF) advert, we thought we should also give it a try as I badly wanted to have a baby of my own,” Kaur said to AFP. “God heard our prayers. My life feels complete now.”
Some experts, including fertility expert Sunil Jindal. are concerned about the health effects on the new mother and the future for the child.
“There are ethical issues. In my opinion it is unfair to do such a procedure on a woman who is over 60,” Jindal told AFP. “Then the question comes how are the parents going to look after the baby? That is also quite a task.”

I wish the baby gets all love from his family and friends. Such kids have to hear stupid comments in public. I hope he doesnt have to.

Why are there ethical issues? The parents wanted to make this life decision and the technology was there, which they were willing to pay for.
May 12, 2016 - 8:30pmWhat gives anyone the right to second guess them because they are older than some arbitrary age set in the mind of the [all-knowing?] doctor.
The reality of health freedom is that anyone has the right to make their own decisions about the disposition of their own body.
That said, I think PERSONALLY that it is irresponsible and narcissistic in the extreme BUT it is the right of the mother to do so if she wishes. As a health freedom advocate, I applaud them for making their own decisions.
Yours in health and freedom,
