Posterior Cruciate Ligament Tear, Does It Require Surgery? - Dr. Harner (VIDEO)

Dr. Harner explains if a woman with a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tear needs to have surgery.

Dr. Harner:
No, it does not and that’s a very important point. The PCL, one, can heal, unlike the ACL. ACL tears almost never heal. PCL tear can heal, number one. Number two, you can do very well with a partial PCL injured knee. ACL partial injuries are tough because your knee is unstable, but with PCL, you can do very well with non-operative treatment. So most of the PCL injured knees, that are just isolated, do not need surgery.
