Dr. Harner describes other ligament injuries that are commonly associated with a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tear.

Dr. Harner:
The most common associated ligament injury with the posterior cruciate ligament is the structures in what’s called the posterolateral corner, and that’s in the back and on the side of the knee, and if you had both a PCL and a posterolateral corner injury knee, that’s a very unstable knee. Those are the ones that usually require surgery.
