The treatment of peripheral artery disease involves many lifestyle changes. These changes are to minimize the harmful influences of the diseases that contribute to this condition— hyperlipidemia , diabetes , hypertension , and obesity . Medications can be effective to relieve symptoms, but they usually do not slow disease progression. Surgery and invasive procedures can improve more advanced stages of the disease.
