Dr. Jacoby discusses if nail fungus is still of concern if it is not spreading.
Dr. Jacoby:
A toenail condition that hasn’t spread may not necessarily be a toenail condition that has fungus. It could be something else. It could be trauma. Because, usually this condition spreads, although insidiously—in other words, over a very slow period—it does spread, and usually spreads from one toenail to the next.
So if there is a spot that looks suspicious, it needs to be investigated; otherwise, the condition will go on, and certain toenail funguses destroy the nail totally and not even the laser will resolve it.
