Sarah discusses how multiple sclerosis support groups helped her.
Sarah:
When I was first diagnosed, I turned to online support groups. For me, that was the easiest way to communicate about my MS, and I personally wasn’t prepared to go into a room with other people who maybe had worse disability than I did, and I wasn’t really prepared for that.
So I went the online route at first. Now I lead an online chat group once a month for people in my area, which I have found very rewarding, and I think it’s growing in popularity. It’s pretty new. And there are a lot of different ways for people to get support. There are in-person groups, there are online chats, there are bulletin boards. There are so many different opportunities to get support and to find what fits for you.
