Dr. Daenell shares ways for women to lower their HRT risks.

Dr. Daenell:
Well, the first question is a really general question, but it’s what about HRT and what about Hormone Replacement Therapy? "Should I or shouldn’t I?" For a long time, it was very popular to use some of the synthetic hormone replacement therapy drugs, and women were somewhat happy taking them, and primarily they are more happy taking them than they weren't.

However, some studies came out that were fairly alarming, and a lot of women jumped off their HRT and terrible things happened to the quality of their life, and so sadly I would see an article in a popular magazine that would say, "I would rather die from breast cancer than live like this," and I am saying, “You don’t have to choose.”

In fact, if you make a more informed choice about the type of hormone you use, so more of a bio-identical hormone instead of a synthetic hormone, that’s a good starting place and that’s a better choice. And then if you take that one step further and use a couple of nutritional interventions to make sure you break that estrogen down in your favor instead of away from your favor, you can actually be healthier and more comfortable than doing nothing, and healthier and more comfortable than doing synthetic HRT.

Most women think they have to sacrifice the quality of life for the health and that they have to choose when in fact the women that are choosing bio-identical hormones combined with the nutritional support like diindolylmethane to break the estrogen down in a healthy way, have a better experience than using hormones alone, and a safer experience than using none.
