Claire has noticed that the tumors have shrunk significantly and is staying incredibly positive and hopeful. She will meet with the doctor again before chemo on May 7 to make sure her body can handle the treatment that day.

Another CT scan will be performed two weeks later to see if any more cancer is detected. After that, the plan is to keep receiving Avastin (one of the chemo drugs that has few side effects) for a few more months.

For now, she keeps living life as normally as she possibly can. She and Maria took several weekend ski trips while Claire was undergoing chemo, and Claire also keeps up her workouts in the gym, taking extra care to clean the equipment to lessen her exposure to germs while her immune system is so weakened.

“Maybe it was Dad’s example before me, but I too feel like I can’t complain too much if my life ended prematurely,” says Claire. “I’ve had a great life and most people in the world don’t even get to have one day of a life like mine, and I’ve had 50 years!”
