Part 4: A Support System Gives Hope

“The outpouring of support when the cancer was diagnosed was really heartwarming. I can’t imagine what it would be like to go through this alone,” says Claire. “Everyone was very positive and mostly shared encouraging stories about people who have survived long after receiving a diagnosis like mine. People sent flowers and books and warm, soft things to wrap myself in.”

A mainstay of support during this process has been a Care Page Web site – an online community of millions of people coming together to share the challenges, hopes and triumphs of anyone facing a life-changing health event. Through personalized Web sites, members can relate their stories, post photos and update friends and family instantly. In turn, people who care can send messages of love and encouragement.

The CarePages Web site cms.carepages.com also provides unique resources (discussion forums, blogs, articles and more) to educate and guide members through their health journey, as well as give loved ones the tools to offer hope and emotional support when they are needed most.

“It’s nice that the communication is two-way, so that I can get messages back from everyone,” says Claire.
