Dr. Sanderson shares what a woman should do if she coughs up blood.

Dr. Sanderson:
Bloody sputum is not a normal phenomenon and anybody who expectorates blood should seek medical advice. It’s important to distinguish that is it coming from down inside the chest cavity, sometimes bleeding gums or lesions in the mouth may cause concern and that all would be investigated, too, but if indeed there is coughing up of mucus stained blood or a greater volume of blood, it’s important to have that investigated, sometimes with a bronchoscopy.
