Dr. Cook shares what a woman should consider when decided where to give birth to her multiple babies.

Dr. Cook:
I think that when we talk about multiple births we have to separate out the higher order multiples, the triplets and more, from the twins. If we are talking about triplets and more I think that standard care would probably dictate management by experienced people with complicated pregnancies, which predominantly would be maternal -fetal medicine specialist.

I think if you are talking about twins, and particularly if they are not complicated, that can be managed safely with an obstetrician/gynecologist who has experience with twins, but there are certain complications that can arise that can be rare but very significant that would require involvement of maternal fetal medicine specialist, such as myself.
