Sleeping Aids: Are You Concerned About Long-Term Health Effects?

Shana explains if she is concerned about her long-term health effects from taking sleep aids every night and explains if she has tried any alternative treatments for insomnia.

Shana:
I feel like I am a pretty healthy person. I maintain a very healthy lifestyle, working out, eating right and I mean obviously it’s just not good for you to have to take some kind of medication to turn off your mind, to make you go to sleep. So that concerns me, definitely concerns me.

I am hoping to not have to take some kind of sleeping medication every single night and hopefully in the future I can not have to have the anxiety about worrying if I am going to fall asleep and waking up in the morning.

I am a very morning person. I love waking up early. I love being able to work out before work, but I like trying to go to bed early. It’s just very, very difficult so hopefully in the future I will not have to have any problems or worrying about having a problem.

I’m definitely opened to trying any kind of alternative sleeping aid for sure, whether it’s sleep meditation music or any kind of natural medication. I have tried taking melatonin but for some reason, I don’t know what it is, but the melatonin causes me to have nightmares. So I have tried it several times and every single time it gives me horrible nightmares.
