In this edition of HER Daily Dose, Bailey Mosier explains how one study shows a link between sleep disturbances and geographical location.

Hi, I’m Bailey Mosier and this is your EmpowHER HER Daily Dose.

Do you get a good night’s sleep every night? Whether you do or don’t may depend on where you live in the U.S.

University of Pennsylvania researchers used telephone survey data from more than 150,000 adults to create state-by-state sleep maps for the United States and found that Southerners report the most sleep disturbances and daytime fatigue, while people in the West sleep the most soundly.

The findings are consistent with previous research showing that many of the states with higher rates of sleep disturbance and daytime fatigue are the same ones with higher rates of other conditions, such as obesity. Sleep is such an important part of overall health, we need to do everything we can to track trends and help everyone get a good’s nights rest, especially those in the highest-risk regions.

That wraps up your EmpowHER HER Daily Dose. Join me here at EmpowHER.com every weekday for your next dose of women’s health.
