Dr. Brian Lyle explains how women can advocate for their health once diagnosed with an unhealthy cholesterol level. Dr. Lyle is a skilled cardiologist at Banner McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Colorado.

Dr. Lyle:
If your doctor tells you that he is concerned about your cholesterol level it’s important to ask him why. You should ask he or she what the problem with your cholesterol level is.

Is your bad cholesterol, your LDL, too high? Is your total cholesterol too high, or your triglyceride is too high or even an important variable that people often overlook, is their good cholesterol too low?

These factors are important because we can treat various cholesterol problems depending on what the exact problem a particular patient has, whether it’s the triglycerides, the bad cholesterol, or the good cholesterol. We have therapy that we can tailor specifically to the individual patient.
