Complementary Alternative Medicine & RA

By February 27, 2012 - 7:59am

Does anyone utilize any alternative medicine to deal with their RA? According to the Natural Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), there are a few different ways to help with RA through alternative therapies:

Mind-Body Therapies include: relaxation, biofeedback, imagery, tai chi, and meditation.

Dietary supplements such as: fish oil, Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), thunder god vine (herb), tumeric, ginger, green tea, and boswellia.

Acupuncture, balneotherapy, and special diets (such a vegan or vegetarian) are also suggested RA therapies on the NCCAM site.

Find out more information here: http://nccam.nih.gov/health/RA/getthefacts.htm

Remember, these are just complementary therapies that should be used in addition to regular dr. treatments, and might not work for everyone. However, I believe that empowherment comes from knowing all of the options!

Has anyone else tried these? Had any luck? Advice? Thanks!
