How are our 40+ members doing today?

By HERWriter Guide November 19, 2010 - 3:55pm

It just occured to me as I am 40 - and getting used to the ridiculous stereotypes attached - that I am turning 41 next month! How dare I !

But I have to say what a fantastic year it has been and on the few occasions someone has said "what's age are you....do you mind me asking?" I say "I'm 40, baby!" and proud of it!

Anyone else embracing these years or having a bit of difficulity?

Hi Ladies, my name is Candylynn Marie, and I am 51yrs old, and I have been 40, well let's just say years ago, more less like 10 yrs ago.. and I thought that being 50 would so totally ruin my life.. I know that I am getting better with age, sometimes alot wiser than I was at 40yrs old, I did know something, but just enough to get through to my next age.. I think that i am as good as fine wine, better with age... I intend to live my life to the fullest , enjoy my days, not let anything or anybody ruin my day or my life.. just celebrate who I am ! Btw I started on here Bipolar women club

Okay girls I the new kid on the block! Followed Susan here, always a wise idea. ;)
Kids, I had my son at the age 40. Having him was a conscious & intentional choice to bring new life and experiences to my life by adopting a boy and his mom. While our marriage did not survive my recovery with alcohol (I was 3 months sober when she decided to leave...) I did gain a wonderful son and his mother is a great woman for raising a terrific man (he's 28 now).
So yes carpools & team snacks are in my rearview mirror, I have not let go of reaching for the stars and soaring with eagles. Life is about changes, and it is how we manage and embrace those changes the keeps away: "Mediocrity is the bain of a person's existance. "
So if you are in your 40's, hang on because the ride to your '60's is "lickety split"!
My question, will you be younger at 60 than you are at 40?
Some of us are... most are not. Whom will you choose to be by living your life, fully?

Thats the spirit jsweetlady, we have to embrace life, (we only have one) its a lot of ups and downs but its hours and how we live it is up to us. Being able to see where we went wrong or what we could have done better are best left in the box, never to be taken out again, as i say no regrets, i am contented with what i have got (not settling for mediocrity) but embracing the real happenings in my life, the family and friends i adore, the women i have met on empower, learning knew things and above all starting this new relationship and seeing where it takes me. Be Blessed All

i for one am glad to be out of the making school lunches and having to attend all the fund raising and school stuff, (although some of them were enjoyable) but its nice to have time to do the things i love now, read a book, go take a spa day, cook, clean if i want too lol, just being me, being 40 is empowering and it is a milestone that we have to embrace because we eventually all reach there, by God"s grace and mercy, so girls enjoy it, i intend to and also live a little, do things you always wanted to do and did not have the time. Be Blessed have a good day.
