Motion Sickness and Constant Headaches Join this Group

Am I alone?

About one month ago, I went to the movies, this is usually awful for me and I have to make sure it is a large cinema room and that I sit way up the back, I still get dizzy and nauseated every time I watch a movie on the big screen, but this time was exceptionally worse, to add to the problem, absolutely NO pain killers (paracetamol, asprin, ibuprofen etc) work to get rid of the dizzy headaches that form at the cinema.
The only problem now is, it has been over a month and I STILL FEEL NAUSEATED AND HAVE A KILLER HEADACHE!!
It hasn't gone away for even an hour, it is keeping me awake most of the night and being tired is adding to the severity.
Just yesterday I was trying on some clothes in a shop and nearly fell over from the dizziness.

Past info-
Very susceptable to dizziness, nausea and headaches, even from simply turning around quickly and being close to the ground :-S
Recently I have finished gradually coming off a 10mg anti-depresent, which if I ever forgot to take one day, I would get 'fuzzy' feelings in my head and eyes.
I have had a CT scan a few years back and every thing returned normal.

HELP!!

Wow, I forgot all about this page!

I'm sorry to hear about your experiences Al1234, I wish I had made some progress, but a few months ago I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis, so I have kind of put my headache issues to the bottom of my pile of priorities.
Hope they find an answer for you soon though :-(

Have you thought about seeing a chiropractor? I usually get these symptoms at a movie and know it is a migraine. It could be an inner ear infection as well. I use to walk sideways anytime my ears were infected I looked like I was drunk plus the headache could be coming from a sinus infection. I hope you find the solution. I won't even bother going to the movies anymore the thought of the migraine is to much.

I usually find problems when in a moving vehicla, but this sounds very inconvenient. I heard that there is a pressure point somewhere near your wrist that you can press down and hold to stop feeling that way. Unfortunately I do not know exactly how to describe it, but maybe you can look into stuff like this.

Hi Susan,
I have only ever watched two movies in 3D, they didn't seem to affect me, it's more movies with alot of camera work (like Blair Witch Project-style!)
I get these headaches from strange things, like, my head being too close to the ground, and turning anwhere between 45 and 180 degrees to look at something.
I thought it may have been my eyes, but I've had them checked and apparently everything is normal.

That's awful to hear!
I have often thought it could be vertigo or even Labrynthitis, but my ears never seem troubled.
About a week after posting the page, I started to improve, but right now it is hard to tell as I think I am coming down with a virus and I feel almost hung-over all the time.
I'm sorry to say I have no other information, as it has reached the point financially and time-wise that I just can't be spending money and time seeing doctors and getting tests done right now.
But I can say I am exactly the same with amusement park rides and watching alot of camera movement, I have found there are several types of motion sickness though and one of the causes is motion you are not in control of. That explained to me why I feel a bit off as a passenger in a car, but when I drive, I am fine. I always insist on driving now!
Will keep you posted though.
Good Luck!

I am anxious to find out if you have found a resolution to your problem. I had a bout of vertigo about 2 years ago, and it was resolved with a prescription for meclizine after a few daus. I have always been susceptible to motion sickness, especially when riding in a car. Since the vertigo, however, my motion sickness has gotten worse and I am no longer able to go on amusement park rides or see movies with a lot of camera movement. For the past 6 months, I have had a constant headache as well. This has been extremely bothersome and troubling, and I have had an MRI, CT Scan, a spinal tap, and dental x-rays - all showing no problems. I am currently being treated for TMJ, but I don't believe this is where my headache is from. My headache is always worse when I'm riding in a car or if I go to the movies, and it is the same type of headache I get from motion sickness. The only difference is that now I have a motion sickness-type headache at all times, even when I am not feeling motion sickness. I have tried every kind of pain medication over-the-counter and prescription. I have not had any relief in the past 6 moths. Please help if you have any further information. At the very least I would love to hear about how you are doing now and if you have made any progress. Thank you and good luck :)
