Fellow Lap-Band Members: What are 3 tips you could offer to some one considering a lap band?
My 3 tips are:
1)The band is only one tool and not the end all, you do need to exercise and eat right in order to get the weight off and keep it off.
2) Although the band does a great job of taking away that nagging hunger, you still need to work on fighting the mental eating: that is you feel full but you mentally want to keep eating.
3) On occasion your lap band acts up and you may have trouble keeping a meal or some thing that does not agree with you-this is the mystery of the band. If this goes beyond a 24 hour period you need to call your doctor or the person who adjusts your band for an appt.
You have gotten no responses! I am just going for my Informational Meeting this Wednesday. I was hoping to get some support and questions answered here at Empower Her.

True, the band is only a tool. It does help you with how much you can eat, but unless you work out Why you eat? you will find a way around the band. If you feel there is a problem, talk to someone before you go another step. Talk to your mate, let them know exactly what this life changing process means to you and also to them. Believe me it takes changes with both of you to make this work.
I guess my question to this group site- the above email was July 27, 2010, are there any members in this group now 2-26-11?
Hi Tammyb58:
I have supported many of my friends who were doing the research on the band and am happy to help you as well. Please feel free to ask me any questions-I promise to be honest, and prompt in my responses. I have had my lap band for over 7 years, my mother has a lap-band and 3 of my friends. You can also messaging me privately on the site as well.
Thanks-Kelley
