I have bulging discs, 3 of them, 2 lumbar and 1 cervical. They have not ruptured but one of the lumbar ones has torn and is bulging more than last year. What can I expect if it does rupture and what is the treatment? I realize my symptoms will probably worsen and I may or may not be able to walk, depending on location and degree or rupture, but I am interested in what else might happen and what treatments are available. Is this a surgical situation?
