Endometriosis after a hysterectomy

By May 11, 2011 - 9:55am

I've gone to the doctor and have been informed that my endometriosis is back after a complete hysterectomy. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what type of treatment did you have done to ensure it didn't come back again? Have you found any research or have a doctor that specializes in endometriosis that you would recommend? Need as much help as possible on this ASAP.
Thanks!
Angelica

I had a hysterectomy about 5 years ago, so much pain and bleeding. A year later I had to have lap. surgery to remove "scar tissue". My doctor claimed I would be fine after that. Well here it 3 years later and I am out of work because I cant stand for long periods of time, walk for long without needing to sit, have had mri, ct scan and scheduled for colonoscopy in a few weeks. Endo is horrible and so many people do not understand the level of pain. And my company's short term disability insurance will not pay me. Endo is not perceived as a condition that warrants disability. So no pay for 2 months now. Stressing about money , of course stress only increases your pain... Feeling rather hopeless at the moment. Any advice would be great...

I am in the same situation as you Angelica. I just has lap surgery, full of adhesions and endo. I did have a hysterectomy but they left my cervix.

Endo does not go away after hysterectomy. Ive be doing alot of research and there is no cure....they say the endo diet may help Im currently looking into that.

Im recovering from my lap surgery and am still in pain. They think I have endo in my colon, going for colonoscopy soon hopefully been off work and in pain for 1 year...on narcotics for pain....

I have a endo specialist I see and he is amazing. You need to do researach and join support groups. I belong to alot of them. but research has helped me understand this disease alot better.

Hope this helps that you know your not alone.
