neuropathy
Ten years ago I was diagnosed with diabetes along with metabolic syndrome. I had high blood sugars, elevated cholesterol, triglycerides, and liver enzymes. I was also diagnosed with NASH; commonly known as 'fatty liver disease'. My liver enzymes go up and down and have now been down for 1+ years. My sugars are mostly normal with slight elevations and normal HgbA1C. My neurologist, over a year ago diagnosed me with cranial and generalized neuropathy. I had been diagnosed with neuropathy years ago, but had very minor symptoms. Now it has been getting progressively worse in my feet, legs, and hands. My cholesterol is also down. I have also lost 28 pounds in a little less than 2 months. Although I have had carpal tunnel syndrome surgeries on both hands, it is now back, as diagnosed with an EMG. That is also the way he diagnosed the cranial and generalized neuropathy. My question is how is it treated. At this time I am taking Gabapentin (Neurontin). Just what is cranial neuropathy, and how is it treated. I have great sensitivity above and behind my right eye. I have had severe headaches (some migraine) others not; but always on the right side, since I was a young teenager and am now in my low 70's. If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it. Or if someone has some sources where I might get more information, it too, would be appreciated. Thank you.
