Adult Acne

By October 28, 2011 - 2:36pm

Does adult acne ever go away? It started at age 24 and I am now 44 years old. What causes it?

Hi Kali,

Welcome back. That's great you are on the way to see a specialist about this.

I've attached a link that might be helpful in the meantime.

Hi Daisy,

Thanks for the information. I have a referral to see a specialist in the new year. Knowing my lifestyle, your information helps me narrow down what might be going on with me. It's not very bad, just more annoying and you wonder how can I have mature, aging skin with wrinkles and still get acne! Kali

Hi Kali,

Thanks for sharing your story.  Some of the causes of adult acne can be cause by hormones, cosmetics, stress, and an increase of resistant bacteria.  Some women experience this during their Menstrual also. Depending how severe it is, some can be treated with topical cream or oral medication.

Best,

Daisy
