Increased Eye Pressure, Which Conditions Can This Cause? - Dr. Reckell (VIDEO)

Dr. Reckell:
Well the pressure of the eye, if it goes too high can damage nerve tissue. At the back of the eye we have an optic nerve, has over a million receptors and if the pressure is elevated, it will start to damage the nerve receptors. That is a condition called glaucoma, but monitoring the pressure, if you have high pressure doesn’t mean you are going to have glaucoma, but it puts you at risk and so there is a range of normals of pressure of the eye. It can range anywhere from lows in the, 8 and 9 is a low pressure; anything above 21 we start to suspect glaucoma.
