Eat Breakfast

Breakfast is the meal of champions. Breakfast eaters tend to:

- Eat a more nutritious, lower fat diet
- Have lower blood cholesterol
- Enjoy success with weight control
- Are mentally alert and more productive
- Have more energy to enjoy exercise either in the morning or later in the day

Be sure to eat a good, healthy breakfast every morning! FYI, this does not include a McDonald's Egg McMuffin.

Some people think they don't have time for breakfast. Whether it's a matter of time management, a mental block toward breakfast, indecision, or what, some folks think they can manage on a cup of coffee or a soda (yikes).

A banana, a mini bagel, even a cheese stick or a breakfast bar would be better than nothing. I like to start my day with a little protein and carbs, like a toasted mini bagel with peanut butter, or some cottage cheese topped with blueberries or raspberries. Sometimes, I'll grab a protein drink from the fridge.

If you work, pack your breakfast (and lunch) the night before and eat it at your desk. Get used to having something - and feed the little gray cells so that they can function throughout the day.

I love breakfast and see it as a time to mentally and physically prepare myself and children for the day. My husband rushes out of the house each day without eating breakfast and I am always throwing him a banana or fruit bread or anything at him as he runs out the door. :) Skipping breakfast has not helped his health, waist line or energy.

Shana, I have oatmeal for breakfast and sprinkle it with brown sugar. Protein powder sounds like a much better option! Thanks for the tip.

It is so strange to me how some people do not eat breakfast! My favorite thing to have in the morning is oatmeal with vanilla protein powder. It gives it a sweet kick without having to add additional sugar! Having protein in the morning will keep you fuller longer and fuel your muscles for the day.

I would suggestion Quaker Oats Oatmeal and Spriu-Tein Tri Part Pea, Rice and Soy Protein (found at Hi-Health and other health food stores).
