My Brother and I have had a relationship of ups, downs and every sideway you can think of. Is it true that there is sibling rivalry? We appear to always be in competition with each other and nothing seems to stop that competitive attitude in us.
I can understand when we were children, there will always be a fight for attention from the parents whether good or bad, the fight for the best Christmas present, but as adults, I am ready to quit competing.
I looked on line to find some information on prevention on how to stop sibling rivalry and I found this website http://kidshealth.org/parent/emotions/feelings/sibling_rivalry.html.
Kids Health is an organization that provides helpful information on how to combat sibling rivalry. Do you have a story of sibling rivalry that you would like the share?
If you do, did the rivalry stop and how did you accomplish that?

I think sibling rivalry is prefectly normal in kids and is even healthy, in some aspects, as long as it doesn't get out of control. Children close in age tend to be more competitive with their siblings because they often have the same interests and are reaching the same milestones at a similiar time.
You're right though, sibling rivalry should end at adulthood - certainly beyond the college years. Siblings by then should be friends - supportive, not competitive.
The only advice I can give someone who has an overly competitive adult sibling is to ignore the rivalry. They can't compete against someone who isn't competing back!
