Don't you just love it when studies confirm what we've always known to be true in our hearts? This article talks about how optimists tend to live longer than pessimists:

I totally agree with what this article says, and I think I've known some of those "cynically hostile" people and they can be exhausting to be around.
What do you think? Are you a half-full or half-empty type of person, and do you think this article is right on?

Great share, Michelle! This reminds me of a book called the Secret I read. The book expresses the idea that if we think negatively or have bad thoughts, we are bringing the negativity onto ourselves. Certainly, this could be true.
Optimism is obviously better than negativity. In every aspect, when your optimistic about things, you are happy knowing that you will be receiving positive reenforcement. If you think negatively about something, you are worried, sad, upset, depressed, etc. You tend to be someone people do not want to be around.
This is certainly true...although, every situation is different. Remaining positive leads to a healthier life.

It seems to me that this story reappears every now and then. How timely that the concept should be resurrected during this difficult global economy.
I was just telling my mom today about a co-worker who always makes me feel as though I need to go out for a run because she's constantly coming in dragging her feet and complaining about feeling sick. Good grief!

I totally agree with it. For example, I have been to support groups, and there is always the handful of people, that just talk about all the horrible things that are happening. In fact, I've even chimed in, with something positive, and they don't even acknowledge it. Its like I wasnt there at all! ahaha And if you don't watch out, you can end up leaving with a 'toxic' feeling. I usually don't return to these groups.
There is always the exceptions, its good to talk about the bad, we need to get it out- but learning to turn the negative energy into positive energy, should be the goal.
When I was at my worst, I always laughed and made jokes. When I was losing my hair from my hormonal imbalances, I couldnt afford to have extensions put in, so I went to a costume shop and bought ridiculous $10 wigs. That way, I never held back from going out with friends. I didnt sit at home and feel sorry for myself that I wasnt out, that my disease was ruining my life.
I will never doubt, the little things I do help me heal faster. At least my spirit and mind always stay healthy. And I like to assume my body is following. ahaha
One reason I'm so glad I found this site, is everyone is so much more positive, than other health forums.
