I have to have a hysterectomy and am having a hard time to not cry every time i think of it. The things that i am most proud of accomplioshing in my life are my children. I made them they grew in my uterus, it was there home for 9 glorious months. Soooo, it is precious to me and i don't want it thrown away like some used up trash. what do you think about me asking the doc if i can take it home for a proper buriel?? will i wake up in a straight jacket? but seriously i mourn the coming loss of my uterus

No to belabor the issue, but I think a key here is to know all your options so you don't do something you regret later on. If you don't have to have the hysterectomy, try a different procedure. However, if there is a slim chance that a different procedure will completely take care of the problem, then have the hysterectomy. Develop criteria, pros and cons lists, and do what seems logical.

Hi Ncharm,
March 3, 2011 - 9:04amI know all this is difficult for you. As Dr. Sarrel said, take this all one step at a time. Work on your breast issues first if possible, and then get to your uterine issue. You may want to look at options and what is available. Finally, I know it may be hard to not be sentimental about your body parts. You no doubt are going through a lot right now. I have commented on many of your posts. I feel for you, and hope you will look into some support groups in addition to seeking the good medical care you need right now. Rely on friends and relatives if you can. I too value my breasts and uterus, but (so help me) if any of them start causing trouble, I will kick them to the curb so fast without blinking twice. My life and my family are more important. What do you think about this?
