this blah, blah mood i'm in, and my blasé attitude is just not me. i just turned 50 last month. its nice to see the surprise on people's faces when i tell them that. but i'm 50 just the same and have been experiencing periminopausal symptoms for 2 years now - although i didn't discover it until about a year ago! then the hot flashes started and i, of course, went on the internet to better inform myself. that's when i realized i had been having night sweats for the past year. and i thought i was waking up full of perspiration, with my nightshirt - an oversized T - soaked around the neck, chest and underarms because of the fleece blanket i was under - air conditioning on to relieve my allergy symptoms.
this was a revelation and i started thinking about life a little differently.
i have to cut this short right now. my daughters' school nurse just called and one of my twins sick. i hope to continue this later, at some other time when i am, again, uninspired.

Happy belated milestone birthday!
To ward off feeling more overheated than I already do, I wear a very lightweight, microfiber camisole and undies, or slip of a nightgown, rather than cotton to bed. The fabric wicks rather than holds the sweats. Because we use a duvet instead of a top sheet, I changed the comforter to a summer weight down fill and toss a thin quilt on top of that, in case my Darling Grom gets cold when I'm burning up - or vice versa.
As for the blahs - I know just how you feel; been there, myself and this is part of the program. It's hard to find inspiration when you're feeling as though your body has been turned inside out.
Buy yourself something brightly colored, if even just a little notebook to carry in your bag, to ward off the blahs. I don't know about you, but I went through a period of feeling un-feminine and tried to hide under loose clothes, as if hiding in a tent. Going through menopause is tough because your hormones are waging war with your body; but, you don't have to let it drag down your spirit.
We're all here to listen, even when you're feeling uninspired.
:)
