I know how murderous can be the thought of getting fat. Things become even more difficult for us women after the marriage. After we have had a few births it is nearly impossible to get back in shape. Of course, we can never get back in the shape we used to be before giving birth to a child but there are still ways to stay fit and slim. Women are vulnerable about their looks and I know that as a woman, no matter how much we deny it. In fact, it’s the vulnerability in us that allows many companies to sell their useless products too us.
Today, there are literally hundreds of diet programs, each focusing on something different for staying healthy. Each trainer and instructor has their philosophy of how to get fit. However, there is something that has changed our lives in a good way already and it is best that we rely on it for getting fit as well – it’s the technology. Technology is now a part of our lives and it would not be wise to avoid it for any reasons. We can now use several technological gadgets, machines, softwares and applications to stay fit. I am stating my personal ones below:
• Exercise Machines
The first thing you can think of when you want to be fit and slim is the exercise machines. There are several types of exercise machines and each machine has its own benefits and disadvantages. I have personally loved elliptical machines, steppers, cross trainers and rowers. The good thing about steppers is that they are the most affordable things you can get. They are small, can be stored easily and provide a natural workout. Elliptical machines provide you full body movement in contrast to spinning bikes that keep your upper body still. Cross trainers also keep your whole body moving so you can lose weight easily and stay fit.
Rowers also let you work on your thighs, back, arms and belly muscles. The good thing about all these machines today is that they come with a display monitor that tells you everything about your workout. You can know the distance you have covered, calories burned, heart rate, time spent etc.
• Online Communities
There was a time when there was no internet. Not there is virtually no place in the world where there is no internet. Now, not only do we have internet but we have several online platforms where we can go and share our workout regimens. All the workout that you do on the machines I just mentioned above can be recorded. Your information can then be transferred to a USB flash drive and then uploaded to the internet. Here you can keep track of your workouts and progress. You can compare your statistics with other people trying to stay fit just like you. You can interact with these people and stay motivated to do more.
• Health Applications
I think health applications are the future of the fitness world. There is nothing closer to us today than our smartphones and the fact that these applications are on our smartphones makes them most effective. I cannot emphasize the fact enough that applications approach things in such unique ways that are dazzling. For example, some applications motivate you to walk more by simply telling you the count of your steps that you have taken in a day. You can count your steps on a daily basis and see a full report at the end of the way to see how much you have walked.
Some applications are designed to wake you up at the best time during your sleep i.e. when you can wake up without having a headache.
• Heartrate Monitors On Smartphones
Even though the newest smartphones have not kept this feature alive, just last year we saw some phones with heart rate monitoring feature. Samsung was the most prominent one in this battle with a heartrate monitor integrated on its Galaxy S5. You had to put your thumb or finger on the monitor for multiple times to get the right reading. It was not the best technology but it still worked for many. We can hope to see more of the similar features coming on smartphones in future.
• Smartwatches
Yes, smartphones had heart rate monitors on them but I and many other in the world had this complaint that smartphones were not the best things for monitoring our health related activities. You could not keep a big phone in your hand while running. Sweaty hands, slippage and the trouble of keeping your hand in the clutching position were all factors that made smartphones a little cumbersome during healthy activities. Technology responded with smartwatches. Now you have nearly all the smartphone features on your smartwatches and I am glad to tell you that many smartwatches have been specifically designed with a focus on sports and health activities.
• Skin Tags And Stickers
There are some companies working on this very futuristic technology. When I think of these companies VivaLNK comes to my mind. This is a company focusing completely on making some very astonishing gadgets that are focused on health and fitness. Mothers have to be worried about the health of their children just as much as they are concerned about their own health. These stickers sold by these companies will stick to the body of the baby without the baby even knowing about it and give temperature reading to the mother. A smartphone application allows mothers to keep track of baby’s temperature and other things.
There are many other ways technology is helping us stay fit and healthy. Scientists and engineers are working more on various gadgets that can make our lives healthier by making us move more and keep us away from sluggishness. I would also like to mention the small sized blenders. I think they are the best thing in my kitchen. I can just throw in some vegetables, fruits, yogurt, milk and other ingredients to prepare my favorite blends, shakes and smoothies.
