Some days when time is abundant and ingredients are plentiful, I could happily spend the entire day in the kitchen cooking beautiful and nourishing meals for my family. But as a business owner, mother of two, and student... I'll tell ya... Those days are far and few between!
When days are hectic and time is limited it can be all too tempting to inhale a pizza pop or two on the way out the door. I get it...I've been there too. And with all of the misleading advertising and shady labelling happening these days, you may even be tricked into thinking that the "Lean Cuisine" frozen dinner you bring to work with you really isn't that bad.
My biggest piece of advice to anyone looking to make changes in their health, is to start eating more Whole Foods.
What is a whole food? Food that has been processed or refined as little as possible and is free from additives or other artificial substances.
A good rule of thumb is to do the majority of your grocery shopping on the perimeter of the store...that's where the real food hangs out.
Also, shopping at farmers markets and food co-ops can be a great place to find healthy convenience food! The producers often make their own scratch-made meals and sell them frozen.. a much better option when you're in a pinch.
By stocking your pantry with a good variety of healthy, whole food items, you can make dinner prep much easier and up your chances of ending up with home cooked, week night dinners.
