Okay, about 15 months ago I had my second back surgery and it seems like my health has went down hill from there. Spurring from my back surgery i then had to have surgery on my left knee in april of 2011. In june of this year complications and what was believed to be a blood clot caused me to have to have another surgery on my left knee, I spent 2 weeks in the hospital and then went home for 3 days and was back in the hospital for a third surgery on the same knee. From there my health has gotten worse. With an elevated white blood cell count for about 8 months, I have had several tests done with no answers as of now.
hair loss
loss of appetite
easily brusing
extreemly tired (24/7)
weak
no energy
fever- mostly at night
weight gain and loss
go from hot to cold
chills
night sweats
insomnia
depression
dizziness
funny taste in mouth
sense of smell is off
migraines
fainting
loss of time
lack of coordination
memory loss
watery eyes
swelling of feet and hands
pain in whole body
sensitive to touch
neasua
vomiting
diarreah
constipation
decay smell to bowls
sick to stomache
excessive facial hair ( full beard)
Right now that is all of the symptoms i can remember (looking at a list)
I have been diagnosed with depression, insomnia, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and early menopause. However no one can tell me why all of the other symptoms are occuring and why i feel like and alien in my own body. I have a lack of interest in everyday activities and find it too tiring and difficult to even get out of bed most days. I ahve had sever thousand dollars worth of blood tests, cultures, stool samples, a colonoscopy, and an endoscopy, all with no answers. I need help, please someone give me some direction.
Patiently waiting,
Barbara

Hey Barbara,
February 7, 2012 - 8:41pmYou may want to consider seeing an endocrinologist or even a trip to an oncologist and have a PET scan focused on your adrenal glands. Even if its not cancer an endocrinologist will probably be able to help you, its a very mysterious and complicated organ and affects everything in your body. I had the same exact symptoms and was told I had a "cyst" on my kidney, that it was normal and there were no answers to why everything was going haywire with my body. A year later, a hundred pounds heavier and a full beard docs discovered I had stage IV adrenocortical carcinoma. Its rare and unfortunately isnt found until it is in its final stages. Im not trying to scare you but I have a strong feeling that whatever the problem is lies in your adrenal glands. I wish you the best of luck Barbara. I hope you get a good report and the mystery is solved.
Rebecca

Hello Barbara, sorry to hear you still don't have a diagnosis. Have you heard of this book? Screaming to be Heard by Dr. Elizabeth Vliet. She's the doctor that helped Michelle (who went undiagnosed for months) get the help she needed.

Still no Diagnosis as of yet. Got test results from the hematologist @ Cancer Care Associates of Tulsa, ok. Everything is again NORMAL with the exception of my White Blood Cell count still being elevated. UUUUUGGGGGHHHHH this is getting old. Now going to see my pcp to talk to her about being tested for several other things.
November 2, 2011 - 8:23pmThese are what Cancer Care Associates suggested that I get tested for:
Chrone's disease
Cushing's disease
Fibromyalgia
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Chronic Fatigue syndrome
Multiple Sclerosis
and Gout.
Appointment with PCP is not until the 10th of this month. Will keep updating as I get results! Still waiting on results from the Gastro Dr. on the EDG and Colonoscopy biopsies.
Any suggestions anyone has I greatly appreciate!
Thanks Barbara

Hello Barbara, thanks for writing and it IS frustrating to have so many symptoms and not know what's wrong. I think you would find it interesting that another woman wrote to EmpowHER with symptoms similar to yours, including fatigue, easy bruising, irregular periods, irritability, anxiety, muscle weakness, facial hair and poor memory/concentration among others. You can find out more about her discovery process and how she's working through it by clicking the link below

And the Mayo Clinic provides these possible causes for an elevated white blood count.

Will you take a look at the links and keep us posted on what you find out? Thanks Barbara.
