When you suffer from bladder weakness or a leaking bladder, you always keep one eye out for the nearest bathroom. SitOrSquat lets you relax and enjoy yourself by finding helping you find the nearest open public toilet on your mobile phone.
The idea behind SitOrSquat is simple: To provide a global database of public facilities so you can find a restroom without asking. It targets travelers, people with health issues such as bladder weakness, parents with small children, germophobes who want to avoid dirty bathrooms, and even those who’d like to find restrooms with condoms or feminine hygiene products.
Smartphone users can access the data on a Blackberry, iPhone or Android phone. You can also use it to find nearby restrooms if your phone supports text. It uses Google Maps and it’s free to users, thanks to advertisements that run on the apps.
Recently, the company announced it would make it’s database available in an open API – which is basically a tool for freely sharing information with other developers, who can use that information to enhance their own products. This means, for example, you could soon find SitOrSquat’s bathroom information showing up in your favorite GPS application.
Sixty-percent of SitOrSquat’s users are women. Millions of healthy women over 50 experience some minor form of urinary incontinence (UI), which is often related to natural, normal events such as childbirth, weight fluctuation, or hormone changes during menopause, according to Vibrant Nation’s Special Report, 5 keys to manage a leaking bladder or overactive bladder for women over 50.
There are bladder control exercises that can help you gain control and stop your leaking bladder. It’s also a good idea, in an effort to overcome bladder weakness, if you slowly stretch out your “wait” time before going to the bathroom. And if you’re having trouble finding a bathroom, you can always try our four tips to help you wait when there’s no bathroom available.
But as any woman with an overactive bladder will tell you, when you’re out in public or traveling, you don’t want to delay finding a restroom once the urge hits. With it’s database of around 1 million toilets, SitOrSquat could certainly come in handy, especially since it will tell you whether or not the facility is actually open, as well as when it’s unsure of the hours for the restroom.
Now, if only there were an app that could tell us which stalls have toilet paper!
