When I was born my mother said I was a good kid, nothing wrong with me. At the age of 3 she said that I would be crying, laying down and throwing up all day long sometimes for days at a time. Now looking back, I do remember my mother making me lay on the couch with a heating pad under my head and a bucket so I could throw up. They thought that I was just having really bad headaches and the doctors said I would grow out of them as I aged. Now at nearly 25 years old, every doctor that I have visited said that I have chronic migraines and that I will have to just deal with them. I have taken more excedrin in my life time to fill about 20 people's life times. My stomach is in pure knots at all times and I am very surprised I am not pooping blood by now. I have two children, 1 and 2 years old. My husband will watch them while I am upstairs in bed - for hours, days and once - a whole week. Honestly, I don't remember one day that I have not had a headache. Yes, I know the difference between a normal headache and a migraine. The normal headaches are those of relief! The migraines are those that keep me from eating, sleeping, showering, taking care of my kids, walking, driving, ANYTHING. The doctors around here look at me like a damn medicine addict which I am not. I do not ask for meds I ask for help. What I get is a shot of demerol in the butt..I hate it! It only lasts for a couple hours anyways! My husband looks at me like I am making them up because I get them so much now! My kids look at me like 'who are you?' I am pathetically asking for help from anyone! Kids around here have ruined anything for me..doctors do not give out pain meds to people under a certain age because they think they want to get high? How the hell do you get high off of a pill other than like ectasy? I don't get it..these headaches have taken me to the point of suicide! I have felt like downing a whole bottle of excedrin so many times. My head feels like it is going to explode, as if my eyes are about to pop from my sockets! How can someone put up with this for their entire life? I can't. I'm going crazy! It feels like I can hardly think anymore, like these headaches are eating my brain. If someone asks me a question really fast such as 'whens your childs bday?' I literally have to sit there and think about it. I can hardly function anymore. I need help with my stupid head. I honestly want to see my kids grow up - have babies of their own. I don't want to be a prisoner stricken to my bed.

Well thankfully you were right. He did a full body exam on me, such as walking, eye sight, reflexes etc. Also, he said that I need a MRI and brain wave scan asap and wouldn't quite tell me why. I will be setting up the appointment as soon as I can, have to try and find a babysitter first considering he said it would take 3-4hours to do those tests. I will keep you updated! And thank you so much for all of your feedback!! :)

September 28, 2011 - 7:07amYesterday, I woke it a head busting headache...I thought maybe I could keep it under control by taking my meds (maxalt) Well, it just kept getting worse and worse...by the end of the night - i started throwing up and couldnt control that either - Went to the ER - found that my right eye is swollen (eye itself) and that I will be going to a neurologist tomorrow at 11am. Still today, I feel like I have a major hangover, I feel light on my feet but my body feels heavy. Kinda hard to explain. Have any of you been to a neurologist? I am very nervous when it comes to doctors and I don't want them pricking and prodding at me!

I actually went to the neurologist yesterday for my check-up - no poking or prodding! A lot of the exam is reflexes and dexterity. Be very honest with the Doctor overexplain things the more information the Doctor has from YOU the better off you'll be. Make sure that you get an MRI and a CT scan and have the doctor go over it with you - get involved so that they have to answer your questions and if you don't like what is being said or don't feel comfortable with that doctor, ask around and find another one.

Dear WifeandMommy,
You NEED to get checked out. I also had experience migraines in the last year or so and thought they might be normal for the stress I was under and my lifestyle, not only was it NOT normal, but I ended up having seizures and emergency brain surgery in June to remove a grapefruit sized tumor. Please feel free to contact me and I would be more than happy to refer you to a neurologist and also a neurosurgeon. My first thing that I would suggest is to get with your GP and have them do an MRI. I was scheduled to have an MRI because my migraines were so bad and so frequent, but before I was able to get it done I ended up having the seizures.

Hi,
I'm so sorry that you are dealing with such bad migraines and to read to that they are taking over your life just breaks my heart. I have migraines but not as chronic as the ones you are experiencing, so I can only imagine what it is your dealing with on a daily basis. I agree with Susan that you need to see a migraine specialist or neurologists that can help you ASAP.

Dr. Oz says that Butterbur twice a day is great for migraines.
Let us know how your doing and if you were able to see a specialist.
