As I write this to you, I am awaiting for a diagnosis for a breast biopsy I had last Thursday (June 5th). This is the second time for a biopsy within a 6 month period. I am 57 years of age, never smoked. Breast cancer is not in my family history.
The first biopsy was diagnosed as INSITU. It was removed on November 30, 2007. I started the Tamoxifen on Dec. 16, 2007. I had radiation for 35 treatments that was completed March 16, 2008.
I should have had a call with the confirmation one way or another before this. I called on Monday, (6/9/08). Had to leave a message and they called me back around 4:10 saying they don't have anything yet. I was then told they would call me back Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon around 3:00 I got a call and she told me that the Pathologist wants the original slide of the biopsy taken in Oct/Nov before the surgery to remove the INSITU TO compare. As of 11:45 a.m. today, 6/11, I have not received a call. I am so frustrated with this. The unknown is a very dark cloud for me.
The mental anxiety is tuff to handle, especially the second time around. I think the compasion for the patient is nil. Perhaps I am small in the number of complaints. Perhaps the professionals ,that deal with this on a day to day basis, don't figure in the human side of the picture. Are we just a number?
