TTP left me in the hospital for over 260 days fighting for my life. Due to this illness, my kidney's failed and I lost some of my vision. I also had severe atrophy all over my body for not being moved in the months I was in the hospital. It took a good 3-4 years to gain most of my strength back. I had to undergo a kidney transplant and my vision has not come back. Obviously a lot more went on during these months I was in the hospital. I suffered from a seizure and went into respitory failure several times. I underwent almost 100 plasma ferezes treatments, kidney dialysis , blood transfusions and was given chemo therapy treatments to try to beat the disease. I wouldn not have made it through without the lovign support of my husband and family. I had a 2 1/2 year old daughter at home which my parents took care of so that my husband could stay with me. It was a very long and scary process, but I am happy to say the past is behind me. Its been 7 years and I am feeling great. My transplant is working wonderful, I exercise ever day to keep up my strenght and I have adjusted to living life legally blind. I admit somre days are still very hard, but I try not to dwell on the negative. I had so many people praying for me and I am here and so very thankful. My daughter is now 9 and thriving. I fought to be here for her.
