Q:

Why would I have an enlarged lymph node in my breast?

I am a 30 y.o. female with no family history of breast cancer. I found a lump in my right breast a short while ago. Over the next few weeks I had 2 sets of mammograms and an ultrasound done. I called my gyn daily to get the results of the tests, and when they finally came in the FNP returned my call. She stated that it was benign, and when I questioned her further she said it was an enlarged lymph node. Not being a pushy person, and I didn't really have any questions prepared for this scenario I let it go and hung up. Now I can't find any info online for why I would have an enlarged lymph node in my breast. From what I'm finding it must not be a common place, because I have yet to find anything.

So, my question is...Is this something that should be further tested? It is still the same size as when I found it about a month and a half ago. The only other symptom I am having is that occasionally my breast will ache slightly. It's usually only for a few seconds and it quits. It occurs maybe 1-2 times a day.

I'm 15, and hoping I have the same thing haha. I only noticed it today but it sounds like what everyone else has. I was wondering how long it took to go away?

I know what you mean. I found a knot in my right breast back in May and know there is another one next to that one. They tell me that it is my lymph nodes that I dont need to worry about them. My mother had breast cancer. What causes them and what can be done about them?

Hi there everyone! I am a 29 year old female and I noticed a lump in my left breast earlier this year. I have a history of skin cancer and cancer, including breast from both sides of the family, well, runs in the family. PCP had an ultrasound done and I was told it was a swollen lymph node. About 3 months later she called me to follow up and was bothered by the fact that it was still there. She had me do an ultrasound, mammo, and sent me to a breast specialist. Everything confirmed that it was simply a swollen lymph node.

My problem is...It is located in a spot where when it "pings" whatever nerve or whatever it hits, pain shoots to my armpit and down my arm as well as toward the center of my chest and diagonal toward my heart. It drives me INSANE! Every day I am uncomfortable and anxious because of the "chest" pain it causes.

I am going to call my breast specialist tomorrow to see if he has any ideas of why I am experiencing so much discomfort. Anyone out there go through something similar?

Hi . I am 24 years old and have had some Brest discomfort for a while in my left breast. Found some lumpy areas and had 3 ultra sounds. 2 which were done last year stated they found nothing. But this week I had another one done due to the constant uncomfortable feeling in my left breast and some lumpy spots on the outside. Results came back yesterday and said the tender areas were lymph nodes and that I will do another ultra sound in 6 months. Feel your stress. What is your current status now? Nice to talk to people who are going through the same thing

I am so glad I found this site. I have a swollen lymph node in my left breast as well and have been concerned lately because it is painful at times. I was really beginning to get concerned because of the pain and thought maybe it was something more until I read these..I am so glad to see that this is more common and that I am not the only one. I have to go back for another mammogram in 6 months as well. Good luck to everyone here and thanks again for all the info :)

I posted a while ago now about what the dr told me was a swollen lymph gland, after it all just not seeming to add up to that I demanded a biopsy of the lump in my left breast and the conclusion came to what I have is a fibroadenoma with aprocrine metaplasia, which does mean it is benign but its at very risk of becoming cancerous in the future. But my point is, if you are concerned demand a biopsy of the lump concerned as really it is the only way to tell for sure what is wrong and will put your mind at rest!

I am a 54 yrs old and on my mammogram today, they also found a small lump on my left breast. When you press on the area it hurts. It was hard to find on the ultrasound. But they also felt it was a lymph node. I also feel like I have a golf ball under my right arm pit, but they could not find anything. They told me to return in 4 months to look at it again. I truly hope others will post their results so that we can share information and experiences.

I was shown the lump in the ultrasound. It shows up as a small black mass , like an air pocket.
