why my shoulder STILL hurts after 2010 flu shot

I had the pain issue after the 1210 shot, big time, and still have it, but I had injured my shoulder previously (many yrs ago), so in my case it was a re-injury. Gets some better then gets sore again but it had been basically healed before the shot, and has been painful since. I've gotten them in my butt for 2011 and 2012. Highly recommended. Hope everyone's heals eventually!

ok i got the flu shot in oct 2012. had one every year and by the 3rd day all pain is gone with tylenol. This is the first time I have had upper arm pain in both arms. I have to rub the pain out everyday. I can hardly lift both arms over my head to get into jammies. Unhooking the bra is painful and lifting the shirt up is difficult. Never had this before. What was in the flu shots this time?

I had the three in ine flu shot on 10/01/2012, the shot was painful, but not unusually so, it was given very high up in my right deltoid. Mt symptoms could come from any one of these posts and 8 weeks on I am in more pain than ever. I went to my doctor who basically blew off any consideration that it could have been the shot. I have never had issues with my arm or shoulder prior. He did an x-ray, which was read by another doc. It came back showing absolutely nothing but some very minor arthritis in my AC joint. I was referred to PT, which did help with mobility, if not pain relief. I work in a hospital and a nurse gave me the shot. A workers Comp case was opened for me by our HR Director who had observed the issues from the onset, the same nurse who gave me the shot handled the case. It was denied. They said I had a re-existing condition (the AC joint arthritis)
The Doc I saw called me to tell me the comp claim was denied (I already knew though) he seemed pleased that he hadn`t been proven wrong. The nurse also came to tell me the claim was denied, the smirk left her face when I told her I had hired an attorney and was appealing. She then offered me free physical therapy.....why?
The pain and loss of usage of my arm are enough, but having to defend myself to my doctor and to the health nurse was awful.
The attorney I hired was previously a micro-biologist in research. She fully believes and understands my issue. We may still loose, and I will pay the considerable health care bills I have accumulated from this shot, but having her listen, understand and BELIEVE me, has made me feel so much better already.

I had my flu shot about a month ago now. I have developed something like tendonitis. Not too sure. It gets better with big does of Ibup. But then if I lift much of anything it starts up again. I am now learning this is not as rare as I had thought. Both my husband and I are nurses and feel the shot was given in the wrong location that may have caused some permanent problems.

Had a flu shot end of 12/11 and have had pain, weakness, very limited range of motion ever since. PT, cortisone (twice), MRI. Now am having surgery next month. Definitely think shot was given too high. Hoping things get better and not worse. Am VERY digusted and displeased. How in the world do elderly (who are ALWAYS told to get the shot) get through something like this?? I can't imagine......

You are right that physical therapy sometimes works and probably should be tried by anyone suffering with a frozen shoulder. But as seen on this message board it doesn't always work. I personally went through PT and got some results. Time was the better healer and although I do not have full range of motion, I am pain free. Because of immune deficiencies, I got another shot this past flu season, making sure the needle was put in a lot lower on the arm and I had no problems!

Physical Therapy DOES WORK. I am living proof of it. "I've heard that it doesn't work" -- Untrue. What Did NOT Work Was the Steroid Shot...

After suffering with a frozen shoulder for 7 months, caused by the flu shot, I finally relented & got Physical Therapy: 1 session/week, for a couple of months (Make sure you do the exercises as advised, every day). I paid off the bill slowly (they do allow payment arrangements; I paid $10/month).

My Shoulder is Perfectly Fine Now. I can sleep on that side again, I have full range of motion Without Any Pain. DON'T INSIST THAT YOU WON'T GET SOMETHING DONE BECAUSE "YOU'VE HEARD..." Check Out Reality and Get the Problem Addressed. I sat on my injury for 7 Months because I was afraid... Such a Waste of Energy. I Suffered All That Time. Totally Unnecessary. Make Sure to Get the Proper Exercises (PT) to Strengthen the area around the injury (if you do your own, you may make it worse -- which is what happened to me).

That was over a year ago, and I haven't given my shoulder another thought. Except when people mention getting the Flu shot. I absolutely refuse to get it ever again.
