Q:

Why can I smell tylenol when I take it?

Every time I take tylenol, when it is starting to kick in I get this dusty smell in my nose. It is kind of in my back of my throat almost. Should I be worried and not take it anymore or is this something normal that happens in some people?

Hello Catherine M

Thank you for writing!

Some medications can leave an after taste. Are you taking capsules or non-coated pills? You may want to switch to capsules to see if that helps. You can drink it with milk to see if that stops the after effects in your nose.
How much are you taking? Tylenol should not be taken very regularly as it can have a negative impact on on the liver.

Best,
Susan

HI! Thank you for responding! I feel much better now. I was taking the old-fashioned regular white pills. I will try capsules and see if that helps.

I am only taking it occasionally when I have a bad headache.

Thanks again!
