Up to six swollen bites on face. Most around eyes. Very swollen. How do I prevent mosquito bites during the night. What is safe for face to repel?

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER.

You have two issues, what to do about the swollen bites and prevention.

Since the bites are near your eyes, call your primary care physician for recommended treatment options.

As far as prevent of mosquito bites at nigh, consider staying indoors after dark or sitting near citronella fueled lanterns or torches. Check the screens on your windows for holes.

The soy-based Bite Blocker for Kids was the most effective natural alternative to DEET. This natural bug repellent offered more than 90 minutes of protection, better than some low-concentration DEET products.

Oil of lemon eucalyptus, which comes from the lemon eucalyptus tree, is recommended by the CDC as an alternative to DEET.

Regards,
Maryann
