Hi,
I have health related question.
Last month my brothers CT scan detected cyst in left lobe of liver on size 1.2 x 1.0 cm.
Impression on CT scan - Small Hepatic Cyst
Unremarkable rest of the study
Advice: clinicopathological correlation.
no impression on ultrasound.
Medicine Preferred by Doctor:-
1. gabapentin and mecobalamin tablets - Mecosun-G(Morning-Evening)
2. aceclofenac & paracetamol (Only having on pain)
4. amitriptyline hydrochloride 25 mg(Evening)
Current Symptoms:-
1. Back Pain.
2. Not easy to walk.
3. Feeling tired.
Can anyone here answer my question?
What to do now.

Hello Anon
Thank you for writing.
Your brother's doctor (along with your brother) will decide on the best treatment for him.
Most liver cysts do not cause any symptoms. However, if cysts become large, they can cause bloating and pain in the upper right part of your abdomen. Sometimes, liver cysts become large enough that you can feel them through the abdomen. Since he has symptoms, he needs treatment.
Most liver cysts do not need to be treated but, as in the case of your brother, if cysts get large and painful, they may need to be drained or surgically removed. Cysts also may be surgically removed if they are stopping bile from reaching your intestine.
If a parasite is found, antibiotics are used for treatment.
He will need to wait until to see his doctor for treatment of the cyst. In the meantime, he can take take the pain relievers advised by his doctor. Certain pain medications and other self-medicating treatments are likely the only things he should be avoiding right now.
