Hi Anonymous,
To answer your question, I do not know what is the longest period of time a person diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome ever slept. Have you been actually diagnosed with this condition? Generally, people suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome have a severe, incapacitating fatigue that is not relieved with bed rest and may be worsened with physical and mental activity. Do you feel refreshed and rested after sleeping for 17 hours or more?

Thank you for your speedy reply. I have been diagnoised with fibromyalgia since 1998. Knowing the two conditions go hand and hand, the serious fatigue is fairly new, where I am constantly tired and never feel refreshed no matter how long I sleep.

Hello Kathy, I am 45 and got my Fibro/Chronic Fatique diagnosis in 1997. The summer is usually my good time..as far as energy and feeling well. Unfortunately..this summer was different. I literally slept the summer away. I also have been sleeping..not every day..but often enough..16-20 hrs. at a time..waking feeling unrefreshed. At times..I will be awake 6 or 8 hrs. and be ready to go back to bed again. I also have Clinical Depression..which has not been responding...after decades..to the meds..which I'm sure doesn't help matters any. I feel like I missed the entire summer and fall is almost upon us already. I understand what you are experiencing and sympathise with you. If you should happen to find anything that helps..please let me know. Blessings, Chippi
