Hello, Anon.
Thank you for writing today.
Most commonly, mechanical issues and soft-tissue injuries are the cause of low back pain. These injuries can include damage to the intervertebral discs, compression of nerve roots, and improper movement of the spinal joints. The single most common cause of lower back pain is a torn or pulled muscle and/or ligament.
If you can take them, anti-inflammatories, such as ibuprofen (generic, Advil, Nuprin, or Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve) work well. These medications not only help relieve your pain but also help reduce inflammation which often accompanies back pain. If your back pain is severe, a prescription medication may be needed as deemed appropriate by your medical provider.
