What can I do to stop getting little tears around my vagina during intercourse?

My boyfriend and I have tried different angles, lube (lots of lube), slow entry, fast entry and nothing seems to work, I still get tears, expecially where the labia meet the perineum. This hurts a lot and takes awhile to heal which puts a stop to the sex life. I am now scared when we have sex because I know the pain it is going to cause. My boyfriend's penis is larger than average and I am quite small - he has commented on how 'tight' I feel. What should I do so I can enjoy sex again?

I have this problem too. I thought i had genital herpes, but they were only lesions. They healed and soon as I had sex, i got another tear.I have been to the doctor and i have been tested for all std's and i am clear, so i dont know what i could be.

I went to my gyno and at the time I did not have any of the lesions, but I explained everything and where they normally happen and she said "Your vagina looks healthy..." - I was left frustrated because it didn't help me to hear that, I want to know why it happens. Maybe I will go next time I have the lesions as it seems she needs to see them to believe me.

I'm wondering if any of you determined what the issue was? My gyno gives me the same response. My vagina looks healthy. I have been tested for everything under the sun. I was treated for bacterial vaginosis (basically, unbalanced PH levels) and we thought that was the answer. I still bleed after intercourse every single time. Sometimes there is a small tear and sometimes there isn't. I am convinced it is something horrible, of course. This has been happening for over a year now and I'm really, really frustrated.

Thanks for the comment Alison - maybe tear is a strong word to describe it, but I definitely get small lesions which sting when I urinate.

Does it just feel like you are tearing, or are you ACTUALLY tearing? Either way, it sounds painful, but it takes a lot of force to tear.

I would suggest talking with your gynecologist about this, as pain during intercourse with the feeling that you are tearing is not something you should be living with.

Most of the time, the man's penis size is irrelevant in the couple's ability to have intercourse. The vagina is very "stretchy", and can stretch to accommodate a baby's head and shoulders, and then spring back to its original size. Since you are using lots of lube and slow movements, it is definitely time to talk with your doctor.
