September is Ovarian Cancer Month. The disease affects so many women and I'd like to learn more about it. I'm not sure if all women have the same risk factors. What are risk factors for ovarian cancer?

Hi Ali!
Thank you for sharing your question about Ovarian Cancer with the EmpowHER community! Some women have a higher risk than others, but the truth remains, that all women have the risk of getting Ovarian Cancer. What is even more surprising is that 90% of women diagnosed do not have a family history which would consider them a higher risk.
Factors that increase risk include:
• increasing age,
• personal or family history of ovarian cancer,
• breast or colon cancer, and
• never having been pregnant or given birth to a child.
Here is a great article from the EmpowHER community that offers some excellent information in greater detail.
