I had protected sex with a condom and then took my combined birth control on time. The next day I didn’t though. Instead of taking it at 10:30 pm like I usually do I took it the next day around 12 or so, making me 14 hours late or 38 hours past my last pill. After that I took my pills normally. Freaking out, I took a plan b pill 70 hours after sex. Then about a week later it looked like my period was going to start but instead I just spotted for about 6 days. The spotting was pink and bright red and dark red. Now I’m on day 3 of my inactive pills and still no period. Could I be pregnant?

Hello Anon
Thank you for writing!
I'm not sure you know how birth control works? The use of a condom and being on the Pill will all but completely prevent pregnancy. If you miss one dose of your pill, you make it up immediately and then your next pill as usual, which you did. This information is on your pill packet. There was no need to take a Plan B pill - it won't work as there was no pregnancy risk - especially with the additional use of a condom.
July 11, 2018 - 6:38amYour symptoms are side effects of plan B, they are not associated with pregnancy. Your cycle will sort itself out in the next few weeks, there is no need to "freak out" about anything. Continue with this weeks 7-day pill-free, and then keep taking your pills as usual.
Best,
Susan
