Update to my question about the sudden appearance of a dark mole

Sudden moles and skin lesions are just plain frightening. My husband had one appear on his lower leg a few months ago. Of course, he put off calling his doctor for a few days. That was long enough for my imagination to run wild, worried about cancer, chemo, surgery, you name it. Long story short, it was nothing, and he had it removed without problem.

My new task is to make dr. appointments more quickly, and to not worry until after the doctor has actually seen something and made a recommendation! It works much better than worrying first and making an appt. second!

Everything worked out. It's important to keep an eye on those moles, however, and it's great that you were diligent in your follow-up. We have someone here in the office who took her 7-year-old daughter because they have a history of skin cancer in their family. Turns out, her daughter needed to have something removed. Like you, she's very happy it turned out for the best, but knows she needs to be very faithful in her doctors' visits.
