Two missed periods, negative pregnancy test, but pregnant like symptoms.

Hi,
I am only twenty one but I am thinking maybe I have an hormone imbalance? My periods are very regular and I have not had my period now for a few months. I have taken numerous pregnancy tests and all have come out negative. I do have pregnant like symptoms though such as weight gain, fatigue and headaches. I also have been extremely bloated recently and have been spotting. I was thinking maybe some of these are a sign of hormone imbalance...I generally eat pretty well and I try to get out and excersize regularly. I have had some mood swings and just over all feel like I am pms sing the whole past month and I have had an increase in my appetite ( I ussually eat small portions and find my self hungry way more often now though). Also I was very happy for about a month and recently am just neutral but that might have something to do with the fatigue I am experiencing now. Any ideas what could be wrong with me? I am sick of feeling like my period is going to happen every day and never having it actually happen!

Thank You in Advance.

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question. It is not uncommon to have irregular periods for several cycles once you get off birth control. Since you missed two cycles already, call your doctor to be sure there are no concerns as this is pretty normal as your hormones are reacting differently. The doctor may want to see you although he/she may just say wait another few months.

Keep us posted.

Hi. I am really confused about what is going on with my body. I had an IUD for about 3 years. Had it removed in early September 2011 and my period came at the end of September. I had unprotected sex in early October and my period was late it didn't come at the end of October but did early November. I haven't had sex since that October but my periods for December and January didn't come. I have taken about 14 pregnancy test since that late October before my period came that November and this January all came out negative. I have always had regular periods until this. I don't know what is going on.

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question. You should certainly make an appointment with your doctor since you are experiencing so many symptoms yet are not pregnant and not having a period. Since you have history of cysts, you should certainly have a follow up with your physician. I hope this helps.

i am 19 and haven't had a period since october 24th. i am on birth control, but had unprotected sex on october 28th, which was at the end of the "off" week of my pills. i have taken a few hpt's and all have been negative. i have been extra tired (sleeping 14 hours a day), eating constantly, gaining weight, bloated, urinating frequently, cramping, and have been waking up in the middle of the night and vomitting a little. I should've started my period last sunday the 18th (now my 2nd missed period) but i spotted for a few days during the middle of the week. I had an ovarian cystectomy in june, but have still had regular periods since then. I'm not sure what I should do!

I know some of these posts are old BUT I am looking for answers! I have had 2 missed periods and am due next week so if that does not come it will be 3!! I have had all negative tests! Including a negative blood test! I had an exam done just over a week ago~ and the doctor said my uterus felt swollen! No cysts or fibroids according to what she felt from her exam ~ I have no pain and if you ask me if I have had pregnancy symptoms~ maybe? but I also have most of those symptoms when I get my period ! the only different thing is the low back ache! I do get low backache when my period is a bout a day or 2 off and then as soon as i get it my period comes the backache goes away! But this is not going away~mild in the day time but at night when i lay down it is really bothersome and is making me exhausted! So I am to go back and be checked again next week? A little background I am 31 and a mother~ my youngest is 5 ~ I have not been on any birth control since before her ~ my husband and I use the vaginal film to prevent pregnancy ~I have a very regular period every 28 days for 3-4 days long~stress ~none~great kids and husband! the only thing that seems to be on my mind is this missing period! If I am pregnant thats ok and if Im not thats ok too! but I really dont want to start any BC or pills without an answer of what could be wrong!

Hi just thought that I'd tell you my story.
My last period was on July 26th, it is now September 15. STILL NO PERIOD. I have taken a handful of HPT all NEGATIVE...and 2 BLOODTEST, again NEGATIVE... So i decided that I should go and get just 1 more HPT....POSITIVE!!!! The Doctor has no idea why my pregnancy tests came back negative for so long before coming up. I'll be having an ultrasound in the next two weeks to dating purposes. BABY DUST TO ALL!!! miracles do happen!

Hello! I'm 19 years old, and have had regular periods since I first got them at 6 years old. Yes, 6! My sister has PCOS, although she has never had any cysts and when I went to the doctor a few years ago and explained my awful cramps during my period she prescribed me metformin. This is the first time in my life I've missed a period, the tests came back negative, doctor didn't really take me seriously which made me mad ;l. I had raging heartburn so she prescribed me zantac. It worked, but then I missed another period. I went back and asked for a different doctor. I then demanded an LH blood test, pee stick , and an ultrasound. LH came out elevated (which can be a sign of PCOS, early menopause or ovary failure) and hcG didn't read at all. I'm now 4 months pregnant with twins. My doc said sometimes women have levels TOO high of hcg and they don't read on pregnancy tests. It's called the Hook Effect. So I thought I would share my experience. Don't give up.. make sure your doctors do every test that you want. That's what they are there for.

Hello,
I am a 19 year old female. I have been having regular periods for two years now. They usually happen between the 1st and 10th of every month. I haven't had one since May 2011. It is now July 7th and I should be on my period and am not. I ended my last period May 8th. So tomorrow will be two months since I last bled. I have taken two tests, both negative. I am a slender build and have noticed my stomach growing, I've also felt nauseous and tired. I've always been slender and had issues gaining weight due to a high metabolism, but in the last two months I've gained at least five pounds. I am going to go to the doctor Monday and figure things out but I would like some advice as to what else it may be so I can get an answer on my first appointment rather than drag it out.
Thank you!
