Did your husband go to his primary care physician or walk-in clinic for the antibiotic prescription? If so, did they do a thorough oral exam?
Your husband may need to do a few things:
1. Call the doctor's office who prescribed the medication, and let them know the symptoms are still present, as well as lymph node swelling. If the doctor does not hear back from the patient, s/he will assume symptoms are gone and medication is working!
2. Ask the doctor to be referred to a specialist if needed for ear, nose, throat, so they may do a thorough exam of his mouth and neck for signs of infection or to rule out other conditions.
Let us know how he is doing!
