Teatox tea and birth control

Hello, I have been on the pill for over 2 years. I purchased a deatox tea on which it says "the teatox can potentially reduce the effectiveness of birth control if you take your pill within 4-5 hours of the laxative effect. "
The tea is one to be drank every morning for 28 days, and the night tea every second day. So far i have been taking my pill at 8:30 am. Since i do not fully understand the restriction about the laxative effect, i do not know how to set it up with my pill and do not want to start the detox. Could anyone advise?

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing!

The instructions are clear - "the teatox can potentially reduce the effectiveness of birth control if you take your pill within 4-5 hours of the laxative effect."

If you take your pill about 8.30am then you wouldn't take your teatox until about 6-8 hours later when the birth control pill will have been fully absorbed. Until you start this detox, you won't know the laxitive effect so you'll have to be flexible. At worst, use condoms as a back up for the first week so you're fully covered.
Best,
Susan
